Nature Vs Nurture

So Ive been totally submerged into fashion lately, visiting countless blogs and websites, including my favorite and trusted Etsy.

I just want to post some pictures of things that make me cringe (in a good way). These pictures seem to hit home with me and my past. I feel like ive found my truest style; the leather, the feathers, the beads and rosaries and crosses. These elements make me feel like running out in the field to pick some flowers, or jump on my horse and gallop away. And then again make me feel that evil spirit in me that drives me through this wicked city. Yin & Yang.

So were talking Americana, inverted crosses, fringe and feathers. (I love the irony)
Its all about the freedom to travel and discover, the freedom to think and create, and pay hommage to our founding fathers and mothers of Canada. And not those europeans that pillaged, raped and converted them.

Because being in tune with nature is the most beautiful thing, more beautiful than a 'more beautiful land above the heavens', that in the end, well you know the rest...

Side note: count my words when I say the next trend is 70's american southwestern native attire. So great but so sad :( Nevertheless I will always be in my zone when rockin' out the leather fringe, cowboy boots and on Buffy Sainte-Marie. even if all the gals in the world do. Cause I was born in a stable afterall.

hush. don't preach.

After the consistent conflicts I see everyday;  wars, genocides, suicide bombings, terrorist attacks, civil and international conflicts, extremist outbreaks of vengeance and opposing moral values and then again re-occuring for hundreds of years, it only reinforces my beliefs about the root of the problem. Living free of traditional and cultural based mindsets about life beyond is a great luxury to me. I live free of any pressure in society to believe in what ever religous doctrine is imposed upon humankind.

Hush. don't preach.

Discoveries.

So I've been browsing through blogs and websites forever now looking for new blood, inspiration and pieces from my favorite artists. I always come accross really beautiful images but never share them. So here are a few pieces that I love.

The first few are from Femke Hiemstra from the Netherlands. She does miniature paintings on books, cigarette cases and hair grease cans. Amazing! She just gave me tons of ideas, which is what I need right now.

RED.

So I redid my hairz. Been contemplating going bright red for a while, but knowing it might turn complately disastrous I witheld doing it for a while. Salons? No can do.
So I invited my friend over for some crazy hair making. We bleached the top since I cant evenly do all of my 2 foot long hair in one shot. Then we did the roots, and added some *crappy* red manic panic, that turned out bright orange due to the not so blonde bleached area. I went and bought some Punky Color instead, and it turned out FABULOUSSSS!
